My village "vanished"!

HAVING been born and raised in Conisbrough, living here all my life, raising a family here and generally supporting my local community in many ways all my adult life - thanks mainly to a professional qualification obtained through the good auspices of Doncaster MBC - I was a little disturbed when my area was included in a new voting constituency, Southern Parks, some time ago.
On making enquiries I was told it was mainly to do with numbers of residents being equalised among areas.

Then, last year, we were again equalised into a Conisbrough, Edlington and Warmsworth ward. On arriving at the polling station last Thursday I was horrified to find that no mention of Conisbrough being part of the polling area was on view, only Edlington and Warmsworth on the ballot boxes in large letters.

Albeit the candidates were all representatives of their particular party, not one of them lived in Conisbrough and only the Labour Party representative had had the decency to canvass my home.

I take great exception to being classified as an 'outsider' in my own village, and would ask for some public review of this unacceptable situation - or is democracy merely a word to be used by some unknown entity in pursuit of political goals?

Sheila Rigg
Conisbrough
