IT WILL be full steam ahead for model railway buffs this month when the Festival of British Railway Modelling comes back on track in Doncaster.

The popular event is returning home to the Doncaster Exhibition Centre on February 13-14 opened by John Ryan, Chairman of Doncaster Rovers.

The Festival of British Railway Modelling is renowned for its top quality layouts and this year is no e
xception, with a selection of 30 layouts in all the popular scales and gauges – including the award winning N-gauge Totnes.

With over 65 exhibitors showcasing their product range alongside 20 specialist traders helping with those hard to find items, the show is a must for all modellers – whether new or experienced.

There will be demonstrations running over the weekend aimed at improving modelling skills, and visitors will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have on projects they are about to start, or are currently working on.

There will be two competitions for our younger visitors, one of which will encourage them to interact with the layouts and their operators, to find out more about them as well as a colouring competition with prizes to be won.

The event returns to Doncaster this year after relocating to Harrogate whilst the extensive £34m development programme of the new Doncaster Exhibition Centre took place.

It runs on Saturday and Sunday from 10am; closing at 5pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday.

Visitors can take advantage of the 3,000 free car parking spaces or the free courtesy bus that will travel between Doncaster railway station and the exhibition centre throughout the weekend.

Admission for adults on the gate is £8 (£4 for children) which includes a programme worth £3.
