ROTHERHAM is due a glamorous night of sassy entertainment to remember with the town's first Burlesque theatre show next month.
Rudi's Blues Café on Corporation Street will be the venue for this unusual and slightly risqué form of entertainment, having its origins in nineteenth century music hall entertainments and vaudeville.

Over the last few years Burlesque has increased in popularity on television shows such as Faking It, Wags Boutique, Loose Women and Britain's Got Talent.

At a Burlesque show, you can expect theatrical entertainment of broad and parodic humour, including comic skits, elegant strip-tease and the performances of songs from a bygone era, remembering artists such as Marilyn Monroe, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee to name a few, mixed with music to dance to in the style of Jive, Rockabilly and show tunes. Customers are encouraged to dress in theme for the events.

Burlesque Blue will be appearing at Rudi's Blues Café on Friday 19th September. Tickets are available at the venue, at Rocky Horrors clothing shop in Sheffield, or online at www.burlesqueblue.net. There will also be buses available from Sheffield on the night. Visit www.burlesqueblue.net for extensive information about Burlesque and the event.
