LIKE the name of one of his most famous songs, singer Nat King Cole is Unforgettable. Now a new concert called Unforgettable at the Civic Theatre, Rotherham, on Thursday May 22 tells the story of the legendary entertainer.
Nat King Cole, famous for his smooth voice and perfect phrasing, was born in the United States in 1919. He began his musical career as a jazz pianist but became one of the most popular singers of the fifties and sixties until his premature death in 1
965. Among his many hit songs are Mona Lisa, Ramblin' Rose, Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer, For Sentimental Reasons, The Christmas Song, Route 66 and Straighten Up And Fly Right.

Performing a celebration of his musical hero is a dream come true for the star of the show Stephen Bayliss. Stephen is a popular performer in his own right, regularly playing to capacity audiences first with his band Hothead and subsequently as a solo soul artist.

Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story is written and narrated by Elliot Brooks who links the whole show together telling the fascinating and often funny story of the legendary entertainer's life. The music is played by The Cliff Longhurst Band.

With a wide vocal range and a rich voice, Stephen Bayliss is in the great tradition of smooth, melodic soul singers and an ideal choice to recreate the experience of a live concert by the legendary Nat King Cole. His previous sell-out theatrical show All Night Long paid tribute to the great songs of the fifties and sixties.

Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story can be seen at the Civic Theatre, Rotherham, on Thursday 22 May 2008 at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £14(concessions £12) and are available online from www.rotherham.gov.uk.
