DARFIELD Art and Craft Exhibition will take place in the Church Hall over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
There will be a wide range of artwork on display including a model of the futuristic Skylon Tower from the 1951 Festival of Britain.

Youngsters from Valley School will showcase a large collection of their photographs and there will also be a display of antique scent bottles, handbags and compacts.

Included in the memorabilia section, which will celebrate 60 years of the NHS, there will be a pair of crutches sued in 1918 by a young miner who had been seriously injured at Houghton Main Colliery. His full story is told in the display.

Throughout the exhibition the adjacent Maurice Dobson Museum and the historic Darfield Church will also be open. In church there is to be a display of paintings of the River Dearne by Iain Nicholls.

Poet Ian Macmillan will open the exhibition on Saturday (August 23) at 10am and it will run through until 5pm on Sunday.
