PROMISING ballroom dancer Hannah Annetts was victorious in two competitions last weekend - despite only teaming up with a new partner eight days ago.
The hardworking 19-year-old learned five dances in just eight days with Ben Taylor then went on to win the under-21 and foxtrot competitions, and will now perform a special show at the Empress Ballrooms on Sunday.

It has been a hectic few weeks for Annetts which has seen her relocate to London for five days each week so that her and new partner Taylor can practice while managing to find time to study for her law degree.

But their short time together has already proved successful.

She said: "It's going really good and all the teachers that we see are really positive about us. We're doing some international competitions in January and we're going abroad over Christmas to have some lessons in Italy. Everything seems to be going alright."

The new partnership came after Annetts, of New Road, Wath, split with her former dance partner Christopher Millward following a competition in Blackpool.

She said: "I got in touch with one of my teachers and asked if he knew anybody and Ben was available so we went out and did the trial and I just moved lock, stock and barrel.

"It's worked out quite well because we're more or less the same, we're exactly the same age and were both the only children so he has the same kind of home life as I do. So it's really not much of a upheaval."

Her life in the capital has quickly settled into a routine as the dedicated pairing carefully balance practice with studying and she seems to have found the right partner to fulfil her dancing ambitions with.

Annetts said: "Ben's at uni part time as well so we sit there and study then go to practice for about six hours, then come home and study a bit more and then have a lesson for three hours and then go to bed.
