Got the January blues? Cheer up - there are some cracking family films on the way in 2008...

1) Horton Hears A Who!

It might be a funny name for a film, but then this looks like being a funny film! It's an animated comedy based on a book by Dr Seuss (the man who wrote The Grinch) and it follows an elephant who has to de
fend the town of Who-ville against an evil kangaroo. Jim Carrey and Steve Carell are among the celebs giving their voices to the characters.

2) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Today's kids weren't even born the last time Indiana Jones was at the cinema - but we're betting mums and dads are excited about this one! The whip-toting adventurer returns for his fourth adventure, and the details are a closely guarded secret - all we know is that Harrison Ford returns to his most famous role, aided by Ray Winstone, and the cast also includes Cate Blanchett.

3) The Incredible Hulk

Everyone loves a good superhero film, and this one should be a cracker. It's not officially a sequel to the 2003 film Hulk but will draw inevitable comparisons, with Edward Norton taking over as Bruce Banner, the man who you wouldn't like when he's angry. Expect lots of shouting, shorts-tearing, green-turning action!

4) Prince Caspian

The next film in the Chronicles of Narnia series (you know, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe!), this will feature lots of adventures as the children from the previous film return to Narnia to fight against an evil king. It'll be an epic.

5) Kung Fu Panda

Jack "School of Rock" Black is the voice of an animated panda who, you guessed it, does Kung Fu. Honestly, if that sentence alone doesn't make you want to go and see this film then we don't know what will.

6) Wall-E

Sure to be the biggest animated film of the year, this is the latest from Pixar - they of Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Monsters Inc fame - and is set 700 years in the future when the planet has got so clogged up with rubbish that all the humans have left to live in space. Wall-E is a little robot with the job of cleaning it all up - until he goes on a big adventure. This is shaping up to be a smash hit.

7) The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Empire

More of the same from the creators of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns - lots of mummy-related Egyptian action. Brendan Fraser is back in the lead role but this time he's up against martial arts star Jet Li, which should make for some high-octane family fun.

8) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

You don't need me to tell you what this one's about! The boy wizard returns in the next-to-last film based on the books. As is the case each year, expect this film to be darker and scarier than the last - but it'll make unmissable viewing for Harry's legion of fans.
