William wants your wellies
William the snowman welcomes visitors to RSPB Old Moor nd encourages them to donate their old wellies.
THIS cool customer has a welly warm welcome for Old Moor visitors.
The Wombwell RSPB Reserve has recruited William the snowman, to remind folk that old boots can be put to good use...
Donations of old wellies are needed, to be used by the reserve team as they demonstrate how to make unique bird feeders and welly gardens.
The bird feeders will encourage birds to come into gardens and be counted in the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Birdwatch – the biggest survey of garden birds in the world, which takes place this weekend.
Liane Holdsworth, visitor experience officer at the reserve, said: “We want people to bring their old wellies to Old Moor so we can make simple bird feeders.
“The feeders are essential at this time of year to help birds over the cold, snowy period, ensuring they keep up their body weight and stay in tip top condition. Just hanging a feeder in the garden will really help birds survive the winter.”
