Swinton’s switch-on
Decorations on a real Christmas tree.
Swinton’s Christmas lights will be switched on again this year thanks to the generosity of local sponsors.
The festive spirit will get a boost in the town on Monday December 3, when Swinton Civic Hall and the Woodman Roundabout will be lit up.
At 2pm, around 80 pupils from two year groups at Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School will sing carols when lights on the two Christmas trees on Swinton Civic Hall are switched on. The cost of paying Rotherham Streetpride to buy and erect the trees and lights has been sponsored by Wilmott Dixon, who will also be offering festive refreshments after the event.
An hour later at 3pm, lights on the traditional Christmas tree on the Woodman roundabout will also be switched on courtesy of the “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust.
