TEAM members at a store on High Street, Wombwell, are treating their four-legged friends to almost £400 worth of treats.

Workers from the Wilkinson store presented the goodies to Barnsley and District Animal Welfare (BADAW), who rescue and re-home abandoned and unwanted dogs in the local area.

The store wanted to help and so set up a pet food collection point for customers to drop off donations.

It’s the store’s second year of collecting contributions in this way and representatives from BADAW call at the store every month to collect the treats.

Steve Simpson, treasurer at BADAW, said: “I’d like to thank Wilkinsons and the kind residents of Wombwell for their generous donations. We depend on voluntary contributions like this and without them, we would not be able to continue caring for our dogs.”

Sharon Cullingworth, store manager at Wilkinson in Wombwell, said: “We love to help worthy causes in our local area. The team does a wonderful job of re-homing the animals and we hope our four-legged friends continue to enjoy their treats.”
