SANTAS and elves were out in force at the weekend, to spread a bit of Christmas cheer among shoppers.

Customers at the Wilkinson store in Wombwell joined in the fun, that included a book sale and bumper raffle to raise cash for the store’s charity of the year - Louth and District Hospice.

The festive fundraising was over two days, with store staff dressing up in their best elf outfits to raise a few smiles from shoppers and promote the raffle that included a giant food hamper full of Christmas goodies.

Sharon Cullingworth, store manager, said: “This year’s Christmas event was a wonderful treat for both our team members and customers. The whole team really got into the festive spirit and was incredibly enthusiastic about fundraising for Louth and District Hospice.

“I am very proud of the team here in Wombwell – they have already made it their new year’s resolution to raise even more money in 2013.

“At Wilkinsons, we see the importance of raising funds for charities with connections in the local area and are very pleased all of the money donated will go towards helping people in our community who truly need it.”

Doreen Stephenson, trustee at the hospice, said: “We are very grateful to the Wombwell store for really getting behind our charity. Any money raised through this activity will go a long way to adding a little bit of festive cheer.”
