Silver coin stash at Darfield

ROMAN silver coins found at North Street, Darfield in January 1947 are on display in the village.

A set of 15 of 450 coins found were housed at the Foulstone School, and are now at the Maurice Dobson Museum. Geoffrey Hutchinson, chairman, said: “We have often been asked about the coins. Residents are welcome to call and see them.” The Museum is open Saturdays 10am to 2pm and Wednesdays 1pm to 4pm.
