On the ball at the Children’s Centre

FOOTY-mad youngsters had their eye on the ball when they were put through their paces by coaches from Doncaster Rovers.

Staff from the League One club ran the action-packed sessions in a special after school club at the Mexborough Children’s Centre in Wath Road.

It may have pouring outside but rain didn’t stop play and the sporty kids, aged from 4-12, took part in indoor activities instead, under the expert eye of the Rovers coaches.

Claire Hughes of the children’s centre said: “They absolutely enjoyed it. The courses are designed to get kids into sport and a healthy lifestyle.

“They are run by Doncaster Rovers, but it isn’t all about football, there are all sorts of fun activities to get their hearts pumping and hopefully it will encourage them to take up sports.”

The courses run for nine weeks each Wednesday from 4.00-5.30pm and cost £2 per session. Contact the centre on 01709 589017.
