North Lincolnshire Christmas waste and recycling collections
North Lincolnshire Council is reminding people to recycle their waste this Christmas, as more than half the rubbish created over the festive period can be recycled.
Remember to use your recycling boxes, bins and bag collections at home and the recycling centres near you.
There will be no collections on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Therefore, Monday 24 December collections will move to Saturday 22 December and Tuesday collections will move to Monday 24 December.
Wednesday 26 December collections will take place on Thursday 27 December and Friday 28 December collections will move to Saturday 29 December.
No waste or recycling collections will take place on New Year’s Day. Tuesday 1 January 2013 collections will be collected on Wednesday 2 January and Friday 4 December collections will be collected on Saturday 5 January.
Brown bin collections will be temporarily suspended over the Christmas period from Saturday 22 December to Friday 4 January 2013. An additional collection of general waste will be provided during the festive period.
Make sure you don’t forget your bins and boxes this Christmas by checking your collection calendar for your collection dates.
If you don’t have a collection calendar you can check your collection dates by visiting the council website www.northlincs.gov.uk/environment/recycling. Or you can request a collection calendar by contacting the Customer Helpline on 01724 297000, using the online request form or email wastemanagement@northlincs.gov.uk.
Household recycling centres opening times have also changed for Christmas:
* Cottage Beck Road is open from 8am to 4pm, seven days a week
* all other sites will be open 10am to 4pm, Friday to Tuesday
* all eight sites will be close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
Cllr Nigel Sherwood, cabinet member for Highways and Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s easy to get caught up in the Christmas festivities and forget to recycle. But it’s important for people to recycle their rubbish or make compost from their waste. Home composting is easy to do all year round – you will be surprised how many Christmas items can be composted.
“Visit the council website for more information about composting, recycling and Christmas collections.”
