DEVELOPERS have unveiled a play park costing over £600,000 in the village with the promise of creating thousands of jobs for the community.

Gazeley, developers of logistics warehouses and distribution parks, has officially opened the multi-use games area covering 22,000 square feet of land in West Moor Park, off Wickett Hern Road in Armthorpe.

The park is aimed at the younger members of the village and includes a skateboard park, BMX track, toddler’s play area, over five’s playground and an enclosed area for basketball and football matches.

Representatives from Armthorpe Parish Council and Gazeley were on hand to officially open the site with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Bruce Topley, senior development director at Gazeley UK, said the new park would also create jobs.

He said: “The opening of this play park is a real celebration for the local community, which we expect to be fully utilised by the local children.

“It is especially important in the aftermath of recent Olympic successes when we are all encouraging more sporting activity for our future generations.”

He went on: “As well as improving facilities for youngsters, we anticipate approximately 1,500 jobs will be created within the area, as Gazeley embark on the next phase of this warehouse development.”

The new £610,000 games area is close to Gazeley’s G.Park Doncaster site which homes occupiers including Next, Ikea and Fellowes Distribution.
