New group to launch

A NEW knit and natter group has been launched in Mexborough after a cash boost from Doncaster Council.

The group’s first session will be held at Mexborough Resource Centre on September 21, from 11am to 1pm.

Doncaster Council has provided £500 funding for the classes through their Adult Services department.

Councillor Sue Phillips, who will lead the group, said: “Sessions such as this help to get people out of the house to meet new people.

“Receiving funding is a great way to start a new project off. But there is a small charge for the sessions because I want it to sustain itself and keep going.”

It costs £1.50 per session and includes a free drink and piece of cake. For more information contact the centre on 01709 582244.
