STAFF and customers have been left delighted following the refurbishment of a popular community centre.

Several improvements have been made to Cantley Community Centre including resurfacing the car park, replacing its windows, having better disabled access and toilets, as well as new flooring and a lick of paint to brighten up the place.

The renovation was part of a £100,000 project to meet legislation and improve the overall look of the centre based in Goodison Boulevard.

John McConville, centre manager, said: “The centre has been running for a number of years and we wanted to keep up with current legislation and also improve the ambience, appearance and facilities on offer to our users and the public in general.

“The works have gone very well. As in all such projects, there have been a number of snags and logistical problems but these have been dealt with as they have occurred and the results are very pleasing.

“We hope the new look will attract greater user numbers and be of benefit to the community as a whole.

“We believe that we are now in a better position to offer a greater range of activities and courses to our customer base and would encourage groups and individuals who may be interested in offering classes to get in touch and come and view the improvements.”

Everyone involved at the centre, which offers a range of courses including crafts, computer classes and family history research, would like to thank the community for their involvement in the renovation.

There is a second smaller wave of work to be carried out at a later date.
