Members of Westwoodside Playing Field Association were trying a new fundraiser in March 1978.

This photograph is one of thousands taken by Derrick French during more than a decade as Bells Editor in the ‘70s and ‘80s, and as such forms part of a unique social history of Isle life.

We are indebted to former Bells employee Ron Shipley, of Westwoodside, who has provided much information about the content of our pictures.
