Help is at hand to keep you warm
FREE ‘keeping warm’ packs are on offer to elderly people in Rotherham and Barnsley - and could make all the difference in this wintry weather!
Older people can struggle to keep warm when the temperature drops, but Age UK Rotherham is ready to help both home owners and those in rented housing.
Winter survival kits include essentials such as blankets, socks, mugs, hot water bottles and thermometers, and in Barnsley these are available to vulnerable families too.
Age Uk Rotherham offers practical handyman help with heating systems and money management, and will point the way to saver schemes and grants to cut down bills.

At Barnsley, over 2000 packs are being distributed, after the Council received £150,000 of funding from the Department of Health.
Dr Renu Bindra, who is involved in the project, said the most vulnerable people will receive kits, that include shoe grippers, and thermal hats, gloves and socks.
“This year we’re limited on what we can give out, but it does look from the initial results that it’s a popular and useful scheme,” he said.
“We’re trying to help those who have been identified most in need and do everything we can to give them the same health experience and same chances”.
