Youngsters on the children’s ward at a Doncaster area hospital will be entertained for hours, thanks to a generous supermarket donation.

Bassetlaw children’s ward was presented with a cheque for £100 from Asda as part of their Community Life project - ‘Chosen by You, Given by Us’ scheme.

The Asda store in Gateford, Worksop held sponsored walks, cake sales, raffles and non-uniform days to raise further money to buy presents for the children.

All staff contributed in different ways and with the money they raised, they bought a games tablet and a selection of DVDs and games.

Charlene White from the store said: “We are proud to support the Children’s Ward and are happy that the gifts we have donated will bring a smile to the youngster’s faces.”

Anne Bacon, who is also a Play Leader on the ward, said: “Thank you to all staff for their generosity and the public for voting for the Children’s Ward.

“The £100 will be put towards purchasing more games and equipment for our young patients.”
