DONCASTER College catering and business students have designed a sandwich.

It is called the Hub Sub and will be sold at Subway, one of the world’s leading sandwich companies.

The Hub Sub is a low salt option, consisting of a mixture of meatballs, salami and salad and is currently on sale for a month at the new Subway in Station Court, Doncaster.

The proceeds from the sales of the Hub Sub will be going to charity.

Bob Moodliar, of Subway approached the college with the idea of producing a sandwich. Catering and business students put their heads together to come up with a business plan and recipe.

After extensive market research, three recipes were created from a list of ingredients supplied by Subway. Tastings were done and the final creation was chosen and made ready to go on sale.

Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton, opened the new Subway and launched the new Hub Sub sandwich.

She said: “The competition was a fantastic opportunity for students at the college to put their business and creative skills to the test and they did a great job, they should be congratulated.”
