A VICAR and a group of Doncaster parishioners have given a boost to a project aiming to help new parents.

Hayley Lyall, a family support worker for Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, appealed for help to raise money for cots to help families struggling to meet the costs of having a baby.

The vicar, Rev Mary Gregory from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kirk Sandall and Edenthorpe, heard the plea for help and launched the ‘Bed for a Baby’ appeal which, so far, has bought 17 cots for the scheme. The cots are either new or second hand but with new mattresses, and local parishioners also helped by knitting teddy bears for each one.
