Club fun keeps kids at Bolton school
Pupils from Lacewood Primary School taking part in out of school clubs
FROM chess to cheerleading, pupils at one Dearne school are packing a plethora of extra-curricular activities in to their days.
Many schools now run after-school clubs, allowing pupils to try something new and develop their skills, but Bolton Lacewood Primary has gone one step further.
Staff, volunteers and outside providers offer thrice-daily club activities that run before school, and at lunchtimes.
Pupils can try martial arts or tag rugby first thing in the morning at 8.10am , become thespians at lunchtime and maybe try their hands at cookery, cheerleading or chess after classes finish for the day.
A spokeswoman said: “All morning activities are free of charge. Additionally we run a Breakfast Club which has a small charge to cover the cost of providing a meal. We have an excellent uptake of club sessions across the board.”
