Carol singers praised

ISLE carol singers braved the harsh weather conditions and raised more than £100 for a village church.
A group of hardy churchgoers went from door to door around the streets of West Stockwith throughout December to entertain locals.

They managed to raise a total of £105 for the local St Mary the Blessed Virgin parish church.

District councillor Hazel Brand thanked everyone for all of their efforts.

She said: “Despite the weather, singers brought festive cheer to village residents.

“Many thanks to all who supported the event – and who gave generously to the upkeep of the parish church.”

Praise was also given to the participating carol singers during a United Benefice service at the church on Sunday.
