A group of Stainforth women from Polton Close Tenants and Residents Association have stripped off to be the new calendar girls and their images are already reaching all the corners of the world.

A GROUP of Stainforth strippers are causing a stir across the world with the success of their calendar girls style photos.

The lovely ladies from Polton Close Tenants’ and Residents’ Association have bared all for a charity calendar which has already reached Vienna, Canada, Madrid, Australia and New Zealand.

Now the group is hoping the venture will be a popular as the original calendar girls by raising lots of money for charity.

Mary Nesbitt, one of the Stainforth calendar girls, said: “The calendars have been shipped off to family and friends around the globe and we are hoping sales will soar to raise cash for three fantastic charities.

“The photos for the calendar are really tasteful, but it took some courage to strip off for the camera.”

The original calendar girls formed in the late 1990s and were members of the Rylstone Women’s Institute in North Yorkshire who decided to shed their clothes in memory of a friend who died of cancer. Since then the group has raised millions of pounds for charity.

Proceeds from the Polton Close photos will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Chatsfield Suite at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Help for Heroes.

Susan Jordan, chief executive of St Leger Homes of Doncaster, which has backed the project, said: “Polton Close Tenants’ and Residents’ Association works really hard to benefit not only their local community, but the wider community in Doncaster and further afield.

“Every year they raise hundreds of pounds for charity. I wish them all the best in the sale of their calendar as the money they raise will be a boost to three really worthy causes.”

The calendars, which cost £3.50, are available from members of Polton Close Tenants’ and Residents’ Association; from the Old Village Post Office in Thorne Road, Stainforth; Tanks a Lot, Sunny Bar, Doncaster; The Pet and Angling Centre, The Green, Thorne, Mick Maye’s card stall in Doncaster Market, or by ringing Mary on 01302 840014.
