A VILLAGE cadet squadron put on an action-packed day for the community.
Face-painting, car boot sales, cake stalls, competitions, raffles and dancing demonstrations were just some of the offerings at the 1384 (Askern) Air Cadets’ gala day.
Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson, the most injured soldier in Afghanistan, and other dignitaries were also invited to the event which was held in the cadets’ base in the grounds of Askern Spa Junior School, Alfred Road.
Young people from Askern interested in joining the cadets and who are at least aged 13, are encouraged to drop into the squadron’s headquarters on Tuesdays or Fridays between 6.20pm and 9pm.
