DONCASTER Market transformed into biker heaven for the Harley Davidson Rolling Thunder Gala.

Gleaming handlebars shone as hundreds of the iconic bikes parked up at the Market Place on Saturday for their much-anticipated visit.

Visitors and shoppers took the chance to admire the display of about 100 bikes with live music and a DJ providing the entertainment.

Doncaster Mayor Peter Davies led the ride-in procession in what he described as a “fantastic” day and a great event for the town.

He said: “I would like to thank all the market staff for organising yet another great day. It is always a pleasure to meet with the Harley Davidson bikers who contribute a great deal of colour to the market on their annual visit, they really are a great bunch of people.”

Among those who went along was Sam Jenkins, four, of Carcroft, who got to sit on a Harley Davidson. Five-year-old Matthew Hargadon, of Kirk Sandall, also had a smile on his face as he admired the display.

One of the bikers who attended the free event - which takes place every summer - was Ian Pastor, of Upper Cusworth.
